I finally managed to get to the stadium, after jumping out of the cab and running up some hill. The good people at “yourtailgateparty.com” have told me there is a good bunch of tailgaters that go by the name: Talking Trash, Tailgate bash”.
I finally found these tailgaters and they welcomed me with open arms, beer and a rather chilli hot dawg! Steven and Mike and the main two dudes who set up the tailgate and they tell me sometimes they have a really larger crowd with them, today seemed there was about ten of them.Talking Trash Tailgate Bash

They spend $4000 on the licence to get the season tickets, hundreds on 4 parking spaces, they have a portable toilet, 40 inch flat screen, a satelite dish and a sweet BBQ. They guys were great and I realy respected them for why they chose the spot they did. They told me it was because a lot of people park behind them and they are right on the road which means most of the fans will walk past them and they can get to say Hi, or give a hi five to as many fans as possible. These guys must be around my age and they spend all this money and do not go into the stadium, isn't that nutsmail
Their presence really got me excited for the game and they dished out the trash talking to Eagles fans, who seem to be a team most teams hate. But it was in good spirit and it was fun. I took some pictures before heading off into Texas stadium where this will be their last Monday Night Football game before they move to their new stadium next season.
What a good idea my Dad had to come to this game, as it turned out to be one of the best Monday Night Football games ever!
The stadium from the outside is very concrete and not what I was expecting from “Americas Team” with all their star players over the years. I normally buy something from each stadium, but Steve had given me a Cowboys beer cooler and I signed up for a credit card in which I got a free Cowboys blanket, sweet. My girlfriend likes to snuggle up in blankets so I'll give this to her.
I made my way in to the stadium and when I got to my seat which was high up behind the end zone, my opinion changed in an instant. This place is like a cauldron, it is very steep and claustrophobic. With the roof covering the fans it felt intense and powerful.
There was no time to take breath in this game, and I'm sure you have heard the final scoreline and watched the highlights on TV, but actually being at this game was something else. Firstly a chap named James came to the game from Houston where told me has no power and was a great person to watch the game with, passionate but still talked me through the players and who he was expecting to play well and so on. By the end of the game I knew the roster and what pyjamas they wear.
The game was non stop action, and I don't remember sittingdown, but I do remember getting so many high fives my hands pulsated. To see Terrell Owens score two touchdowns and the kick return for a touchdown all sent the Cowboy fans nuts. Although it was not as loud as Qwest stadium it was till plenty loud, but this was far more intense. Perhaps that was to do with this game being a strong rivalry, both teams are going for the superbowl and it was just one of those games that was simply amazing.
Both Qbs did not want to give it up and I remember saying to James many times: Now you guys have that TD just protect and stop the eagles and you have won, but the game seemed to have no bounds and it was score after score, I think there was 60 points on the first half alone!
There was ahandful of Eagles fans behind me who actually had a few witty chants about Romo, similar to that you would find in Soccer in the U.K. Where as the Cowboys fans lacked chants specifically but had a lot of heart and cheered on and on and seemed to not want to give up.
The Romo fumble in the endzone was bizarre and a worse QB would have let that get to him, but he played on the team continued driving and put together a comeback in the last quarter to finally hold off McNabb and the Eagles on their last drive. The game ended up 41-37 to the Cowboys and the Eagles had to get a touchdown to stay in it which made it very exciting. Once the first quarter was over I think we all knew this would be a special game because both teams showed no mercy and went out attacked each other, and I respect the coaches for the way they played tonight.
The most "muppet" award has to go DeSean Jackson, who burst through the Cowboys defence, to drop the ball on the 1 yard line in order to a celebrate a touchdown, only for the officials to bring the back the ball, what an idiot, surley his coach will fine him wages for being sucha muppet!
It ended with the Cowboys taking a knee and to be honest I think they should get rid of that rule. I think it makes it exciting that it is not over until the whistle has gone. But there you go, I'm not complaining that it ended that way because that was probably the best NFL game I am likely to see on this trip.
The crowd were buzzing as we left knowing they had not only witnessed a home win, but boy, what a win and what a game! I made my way back to the Talking trash Tailgating bash guys and they were packing away, but they were buzzed too with such a game. A fair few people carried on drinking and playing ball in the parking lots, but I find it easier to approach people before the game.
So although I wanted to walk back to my hotel I could not because there are no tunnels or bridges to get anywhere. Again this trip has showed me if you don't drive things aren't easy.
So I joined the line up for taxis and there must have been an easy thousand people! Although this frustrated me at first it was good opportunity to chat to the other fans and get feedback on the great game. Two gentleman from behind me were from London and in Dallas on business and thought they would catch the game, well what an introduction to the sport. Both said they loved it and much preferred being to the live game than watching it on TV where it seems more stop start than it is live. Which is interesting because many Americans I have met so far say the game is better on TV because of the replays and so on.
Still we had a laugh in the line up and people were friendly. I finally got in my taxi that took up the highway and back down again, when all I needed to do was the cross the road. Still after that game I'm not complaining!
Pre-game
I have had to add this game in at the last minute, not that seeing this game is a bad thing at all, in fact it looks to bea great game.
With my schedule in week 16 taking me to a possible 4 games in 5 days, it is potentially just too dangerous for me to make the drive from Dallas to Chiefs especially if the weather is bad come late December. I will actually be flying to this game from Seattle on the morning of the game, so this will be a game I will not be with my car. Hopefully I can hire a car or get some trusty public transport for the game.
If I can make the Dallas game in week 16 then I will taking me to 36 games, but as it stands that game is plan b if my flights are delayed.
Still who can complain with Eagles v Dallas on Monday Night Football game, I just to get me some tickets at this late stage
